Can I get the new iPod Touch software with gift card money?

I want to buy the new iPod Touch software off of iTunes, and I have a gift card for iTunes that I havent activated yet. Can I activate it and use the money off of that to buy the new software? Or do I need to use money from a credit card?

    You should be able to use your iTunes gift card. You plan on redeeming the balance sooner or later, correct? So there is no harm in activating the card and then trying to purchase the update using it.

    Ive never personally done this myself but i would think you could since you have a gift card for it.
